2017 was such an exciting year for me. It was the year that I decided to start focusing on my dreams and what I wanted out of life rather than what other people wanted for… More
So…. as I do every year, I went Black Friday shopping with my family right after Thanksgiving dinner. My family always likes to go during the night instead of waking up early to go because….we hate waking up! Unlike other people, we don’t really go to find great deals (although it’s always nice when we find one). Instead, we just use it as a time to spend time with family, get a jump start on Christmas shopping, and have fun.
SO, here is some of what we got.
Before we went to the mall, we stopped by Target because they usually have some really great stocking stuffers in the dollar section at the front of the store and movies for great deals. At the dollar section, I found some really cute silver and white Christmas trees for a dollar to put on my desk in my room. I also found some inspirational posters and a clipboard to use in my future classroom because I think that it’s really important to fill classrooms with inspiration to follow their dreams.
After we moved on from the dollar section (or rather my family forcibly removed me from the dollar section….) I found a pretty awesome passport holder that I’m planning to take to India with me very soon. I also got a 2018 planner which I love because it’s so big. I feel like it’ll be really great to put on my desk to plan out the year. It also has a lot of room to write to-do lists for each day which I use to destress.
And, of course, for me it wouldn’t be black friday if I didn’t get a few Christmas movies and books. This year they had Christmas classics for only $4 each, so I got some of my favorites that we watch as a family every year. I also got The Lion King to add to my Disney collection (I’m trying to collect all the Disney movies and for some reason I didn’t have The Lion King yet which is crazy because it’s one of my favorites! The last movie I got was The Big Sick which is an incredibly awesome and funny love story. It reminds me of what me and my boyfriend went through when we first started dating, so when I saw it, I had to get it.
Next up was Old Navy, which was probably the craziest place we went the entire night since they had such great deals. I got two incredibly comfy sweaters which I absolutely LOVE and some pajama pants with little foxes on them 🙂 They’re adorable!
The last two places we went were Lush and Sephora. (I didn’t take any pictures of what I got from Lush because I already broke the bubble bar filming the video and didn’t want to do anymore damage lol) At Sephora, I picked up a First Aid Beauty moisturizer which I got for a really great deal! I also got a Hoola Lite Bronzer which I’ve been wanting for a really long time since I think it will go really great with my skin tone. Last but not least, I got the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation which I’ve also been wanting for a really long time since it’s supposed to be a high coverage foundation that actually matches my pale skin.
Anyway, that’s everything I got during my Black Friday shopping trip! I hope everybody had a great and safe Thanksgiving!
So, I have pretty much been off the grid for the last month. I haven’t made any videos. I haven’t posted on Instagram, and I haven’t written anything on my blog. I’ve basically just been sitting in my room working on stuff to get certified to teach, which is a lot harder, longer, and more complicated than you think it would be. There’s like this 30 page document you have to write and submit along with two videos of yourself teaching, and that’s only one part of it. It really just takes so much out of you when you don’t have time to do the things you really enjoy and express yourself. Anyway, because of that, I’ve been incredibly busy and stressed which has affected pretty much everything else in my life, so I’m really happy to say that I finally got it finished and can get back to focusing on other things I enjoy doing like social media.
I have to say that all of that stress really took a lot out of me. I got to the point where I hated going to school everyday and having to interact with people. Since I wasn’t enjoying what I was doing, I had a really short fuse with just about everyone, including my family and my boyfriend. I had to force myself to get up in the morning and get ready for school, and there were days when I really just couldn’t and had to take personal days off to get myself mentally prepared for the next day. I know this sounds extreme, but a lot of stress can just turns you into a completely different person.
It was also worsened by the fact that I’m not 100% sure that teaching high school is exactly what I want to do with my life. Don’t get me wrong. I usually love interacting with the students and seeing the pride on their faces when they understand something they previously didn’t, but teaching can be a really emotionally draining job since you always have to be on call for the students whenever they need you. I’m just not sure it’s what I’m supposed to be doing for the rest of my life.
For someone who likes to have everything planned out and orderly, this is a really scary thought. I’m graduating next semester, and I’m still not sure what I want my life to look like afterward. For some people, like my boyfriend, this is exciting. For me, it’s terrifying.
Luckily, I have a lot of people to support me through this, and I started to see a counselor so that I could talk through some things. By the way, I highly recommend seeing a counselor if you’re going through a major transition in your life, and it’s starting to affect you. It just helps me so much to be able to talk to someone and have them listen and talk you through it. I know that, for some reason, there’s a stigma associated with going to see a counselor, but there really shouldn’t be, and it definitely shouldn’t stop you from going. Everyone needs help now and then, even if they don’t want to admit it.
Anyway, moving on to happier things. For a while now I’ve been planning to go to India in December in order to meet my boyfriend’s family. Recently I finally bought the tickets, so it’s starting to feel a lot more real. I’m incredibly excited but also really nervous. I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve never been anywhere near India (I’ve only been to New Zealand outside of America), and although I know about the culture from my boyfriend, I still feel like I’m going to be in for a major culture shock.
I’m going to try to blog about the trip, so if you want to hear more, make sure to follow my blog!
The theme for IPSY this month was “Like a Boss” which I thought was really interesting. The bag this month was black with royal blue on the inside, and a rough texture on the outside. I actually really like it, and it’s one of the only bags that I can actually see myself using outside as something other than a makeup bag.
The first item I got was some type of snail secretion that’s supposed to do something for your face. To be honest, I’m still not exactly sure what it is. Either way, I don’t think I would ever use this product since I found out that it contains snail secretion. I’m sure it’s probably great, but personally, I just can’t.
The second product I got was Smashbox Photo Finish Radiance Primer. I was really excited when I got this because I heard such good things about Smashbox primers, but this one had a tint to it. I don’t know how to describe it. I just feel like it won’t look good on my pale skin.
I also got the Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow in Gunmetal. It’s the second product that I’ve received from them (the first one was a highlighter), and I loved the first one. I’m just not sure that I’ll like the shade of this eyeshadow. I prefer gold eyeshadow to silver. The fourth item I got was an angled shading brush from Luxie. This is another product that I probably would have liked if it was a different type of brush. I just don’t use angled brushes.
Last, I got a blush duo from Pixi in Peach Honey. I am absolutely in love with this brush. The colors are absolutely beautiful, and I think that it will look great on my pale skin. It also has a little bit of shimmer to it which would be nice if I’m not wearing a highlighter that day but still would like a little bit of shimmer.
Overall, I’d give this bag about a 3 out of five. I love the bag and the blush duo, but that’s really all that I can see myself using.
As you may or may not know….I absolutely love fall!! The hoodies, the cool winds, the pumpkin and apple scents….I just love it all! In honor of the first day of fall coming up, I went over to Walmart (your destination for everything) and picked up a couple of things to decorate my room. Since they were from Walmart, they were also all under $4 each! Here’s what I got!
When I saw these kitchen towels, I absolutely had to have them! They’re so cute! First of all, I absolutely love owls (which probably contributes to my love of fall). My room is pretty much fully decorated with everything owl related. I also couldn’t resist the fox “Happy Harvest” one since it’s just so adorable.
Next, I picked up some actual decorations for my room. The first one is a mini pumpkin that I thought would look really cute on my nightstand next to my fall Bath & Body Works candle. How can you not have a mini pumpkin for the fall? Last, I picked up five strands of leaves to put on the fairy lights hanging around my room. If you’ve ever seen my videos, they’re the ones right above my bed where I film. I thought that they would make my room and videos look a lot more festive.
Happy fall everyone!!
So, as you’ve probably seen from my September beauty wishlist, I was incredibly excited when I found out that Too Faced was coming out with another collection based on peaches. Let me just say, I absolutely love everything having to do with peaches! I love the smell of peaches, I love the taste of peaches, and I love peach makeup, so I absolutely had to get some of the collection. This is what I got!
Primed and Peachy
I have never actually bought a Too Faced primer. I did get their Hangover primer as a sample, though, and really liked it, so I decided to try out this one. It has the same smell as the rest of the collection which is amazing. You can definitely smell peaches like the other collection, but it’s not nearly as strong as the other one because the cream mixed in tones it down. When I tried it out on my hand, it blurred everything out perfectly, so I think that it will be great on my face.
Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation in Snow
I was actually kind of disappointed with this one. I got the lightest shade which works for me in their Born This Way Foundation, but this one was too dark for my skin tone. I was so disappointed because I was really looking forward to this one. I’m sure if you’re not really pale like me, though, it will work great!
Peach My Cheeks Blush in Peach Dream
I really like this so far. It’s pretty pigmented which is nice. It’s also a beautiful pale pink which I think will look awesome on my pale skin during the winter. The formula is supposed to be new. It’s really interesting because it feels creamy when you swirl your finger in it, but when it’s on your finger, it’s more powdery. They also have a highlighter and bronzer in this formula which I didn’t get.
Peach Kiss in Drunk Dial
I absolutely LOVE the look of this lipstick! The actual lipstick has peaches engraved on the sides which is so adorable!! The color itself is a really pretty berry tone which is so perfect for fall!
Just Peachy Mattes
I personally believe this is a great palette for travel since it’s all mattes, is small, and has a big mirror. The feel like the colors could be really pretty for fall, but they could also be used for all other seasons by showing casing certain colors. Plus, it smells great, but it’s not too overpowering like the Sweet Peach palette can be.
So many amazing collections are being released today and in the near future, and if I were to buy all of it, I would be in debt up to my head. Since I can’t buy all of them, I thought I would do my first ever beauty wishlist with some of the products I would absolutely love to have, and if you happen to have more money than I do at the moment, you should definitely check out!
Too Faced Peaches and Cream Collection
Let’s be honest, I want absolutely everything from this collection (and I’ll be buying some of these products, but here are a few of my favorites….
- Peach Kiss Matte Lipstick ($21) in Drunk Dial, Love is a Battlefield, After School Special, and Sex on the Peach: Seriously, this is like one of the cutest tubes of lipstick I have ever seen. There are peach indentations ON the lipstick, and the gold and cream on the tube look so classy and beautiful. Drunk Dial is a beautiful deep purple, and Love is a battlefield is a deep plum which are both gorgeous for fall.
- Peach Perfect Foundation ($36) in Snow: I just really, really want to try this foundation because I really love their Born This Way foundation. It’s supposed to be matte, too, which I like for fall weather.
- Just Peachy Mattes Palette ($45): I absolutely love the look of this palette! It’s all mattes which is awesome since I don’t have a palette like that. It also looks perfect for a travel palette since it has such good colors and a great mirror.
- Peach My Cheeks Blush ($30) in Peach Dream: Honestly, I’m just really curious about this formula. It’s supposed to be new and comes in blushes, a bronzer, and a highlighter. The shade Peach Dream is a really soft pink, and I think it would look great on my pale skin for the winter months.
- Primed & Peachy ($30): I really love Too Faced’s other primer, so I’m curious to see how this one does as well. I’m also really hoping it smells like peaches like the other one smells like coconut.
Tarte’s New Holiday Collection
The packaging of all of these products is absolutely so cute and different than other holiday collections I’ve seen. I just love it! Here are some of the products I really want….
- Buried Treasure Eyeshadow Palette ($36): This palette is so freaking cute. All of the eyeshadows are laid out next to each other in different sized circles, and the shades are absolutely perfect for any kind of holiday party. I want this so, so bad!
- Lip Luxuries Deluxe Lip Sculptor Set ($34): This comes with five tubes of lipstick in really pretty Christmas-y shades. They’re all double ended, so on one side you have the satin lipstick and on the other, there’s a gloss. They look so bright and festive!
- Metallic Treats Glitter Liner Set ($29): I would really just love to try these out since I don’t have any glitter liners. It comes with three shades, and I absolutely love all three. I could definitely see myself wearing them to a fancy Christmas party or dinner.
